The Grand Hotel in Taipei is one of the BEST (4.5/5 stars) hotels you can stay at. It’s a bit further out from the heart of the city, but it’s worth staying at because each room is SPACIOUS and very CLEAN! I say this because I stayed at a hotel right in the heart of Taipei and the room sizes are comparable to the ones in New York (ok slightly bigger).
I went in November 2019 and service was amazing (workers speak english which is always a plus). The hotel is so big that they need to call a golf court driver to take you to the outdoor pool and tennis court area! When you see the pool size, it’s so nice that you just want to spend a couple hours relaxing there so I suggest grabbing some beer and snacks before hand and just relax (they have a mini mart inside the hotel).
They have shuttles from the hotel taking you to MRT Yuanshuan Station/Plaza and MRT Jiantan Station which is where the famous Shilin Night Market is located.
TPE Airport to hotel - about 35 mins drive.
Taipei Fine Arts Museum - 15 min walk.
